Biography

“At about age 5 he received a small xylophone as a gift from his parents, and was already playing keyboards for live outfits by his early teens. For many years within that period, he played the Organ before finally settling on his instrument of choice – the Acoustic piano. In addition to keyboards Emerson also became an accomplished percussionist and is actually the original tutor to his younger brother-in-law Ricardo François. Emerson had been introduced to the François’s via musical connections with internationally renowned saxophonist Luther as a teenager, and has featured with them including the late Mervyn François (bassist) for various performances across the decades – 2020 not excluded.       

While Emerson is adept to all musical genres and art forms, his main specialty has always been Jazz, an attachment to which being fostered very early into this life-long career of his choosing. He once had to surrender a promising day job at the island’s sole telecommunications company at the time (C&W) for not being able to maintain consistent punctuality, as the majority of his music gigs normally went well into the evenings.
